A little over a year ago some friends and I were talking about bands that could make a comeback.  Lots of things came up, including Green Day.  I said that I thought Green Day had probably made their comeback with Nimrod

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Warning:, but it didn't have the same mass appeal as the legendary Dookie.  I figured they had been relegated to the world of bands that release a minor hit every couple years.

That is why I am so loving eating my words.  I love that a non-blink-clone album by a punk band has gone triple platinum again.  I love that the stations are playing 9 minute songs on the radio because they've already played all the short ones.  I love that they've already played all the short ones.  I love that even when I'm in some indie rock trance, this album can remind me that popular music is often popular for a reason.  I also love that the kids in middle school won't have to look back at their school days as the time when Dashboard was the band.  I love that ther is finally a decent 'punk opera'.  Mostly I love Green Day (:
